About AME

An Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) is a licensed person vested with sole responsibility of maintenance of aircrafts, engines, instruments, accessories and issues the Certificate of Flight Release that declares aircraft is airworthy and safe to fly. As per the guidelines set by the international body (ICAO) and the regulatory authority of the country (DGCA), all aircrafts must have valid Certificate of Airworthiness (C of A) before any flight of aircraft. Thus an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer shoulders the responsibility of aircraft safety and the personnel onboard on behalf of Govt. of India.

To be eligible for issuing aircraft certification, an engineer required to possess a valid AME License issued by the DGCA, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India. DGCA controls all the matter related to safety of aircraft and also issuance of licenses to AME according to the requirements as stipulated in Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR). To become an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, one has to enroll for the three years regular AME Course, conducted by the approved AME institutes.The minimum educational qualification required is 10+2 passed with PCM subjects and must be medically fit.
